The education of the world's children is high on the global agenda. In the context of education all children should receive free and good quality education. The reality is that millions of children are too poor to benefit from it, unless there are special interventions that target their development. Unfortunately, such children do not form a special Social Category and acknowledging the need to reach out to the poorest children, Sneha Sagar Society’s mission is of education and poverty eradication.
The project aims at solving the problems hidden by the fact that orphans and vulnerable children are invisible; yet by the very nature of the situation, they are included among those that are classified as disadvantaged and poor in Maharashtra. Children and subsumed within the poverty categories, most often referred to such as households, communities people - which means that there is a high tendency to focus on Adult related poverty, while children’s problems are ignored, partly because children have little power and influence within a group that contains adults.
The life of the
children who are currently residing in our Orphanage is not the same as they
were before. The children lacked parental guidance, care and love. They did not
have the means to get what they want. There was a lack financially and
initiatives, that results from financial poverty, or rather from the poverty of
the mind. The children were dependant on others. Some of their parents would
engage in abusive behaviour after getting intoxication. The children have lacked
any access to health care. They were vulnerable to diseases, especially HIV and
TB. Some children have a single parent while some are completely orphaned. They
were forced to live on the streets because their parents couldn’t support all/ any
of their children. Some abandoned merely for being a girl child. They have come
from broken families. They were unable to enrol themselves in a school or to
pursue education on an ongoing basis because of school costs, uniform, stationery,
etc. They had lack of money, clothing, food, accommodation, material goods such
as bicycles, books, etc. They lacked knowledge and skills. Their parents lacked
opportunities and sources of income. They have had a measly standard of living.
Some of them were brought to us by the Police and some by social workers.
Our issue is the absence of basic necessities. Equally important is the human condition in terms of Physical health and parental care and protection. Schooling is high on the list as a critical criterion in determining who is extremely or modestly a vulnerable and disadvantaged child.
Here now at Sneha Sagar Society, we not only provide with shelter, food, clothing, water, medication, education, etc.... but also love, care, nurture and an understanding and accepting environment. We mould them into beautiful and fine young children, empower and equip them the knowledge and skills and moralities, and help them realize their own potentials. Guide them on a good standard of living and counsel them.
In short - Pave the way for a bright future!!!
We have 2 Orphanages, one at Marve for the age limit of 13, and one at Vasai for the older girls. they are receiving education till Grade X. Thereafter, they choose their path and we guide and support them accordingly. At present there are 60 children under our constant care and nurture.
Our monthly expenditure works uptp Rs. 7 Lakhs, likewise annually upto Rs 65 Lakhs. We would appreciate any amount that you could donate to help us make this accomplishment much easier
